Death Rattle

I spent the better part of my weekend at the nursing home with my Mom. Her kidneys have shut down and her heart is not keeping her lungs clear. I intervened and had them take the IV out on Saturday night. This morning, Tuesday, they wanted to run some bloodwork on her. I said, No, I've been hearing for three days that the nurses didn't think she would last through their shift. So they have orders not to stick her with anymore needles.

When the lungs fill up it makes a sound commonly referred to as "death rattle." When I heard it in Mom it sounded more like one of these:fountain. But I guess they couldn't call it Death Fountain Paint Pots.
