Looks like the Reorg passed 96-2. Let's see, two people couldn't be bothered to vote on what Senator McCain called, "...one of my prouder moments because of the way this entire body has acted in the national interest."
Who were the two Senators who voted no? Well, they were the segregationist Democrat Fritz Hollings and the former KKK member Robert Byrd. Byrd in fact said, "Like a whipped dog fearing its master, the Senate obediently complied with the demands of the White House." Well Byrd should certainly know about whippings and Masters.
Two Senators couldn't be bothered to show up and vote. Who were they? Could it be the one they call Senator Gone and the other one they just call, Lurch? Yes ,indeedy.
"Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry of Massachusetts and running mate John Edwards of North Carolina did not vote."
Amazing that these two fellow travellers still draw a paycheck.
